Avardon is a roleplaying community providing its members access to game servers and services operated by the Avardon staff team.

We aim to process only personal data that is necessary for operation and legitimate business interests connected with those services.

Our Standards

Protecting the privacy of our players is very important to us. These are the steps we take to ensure your privacy:

  • Avardon is based in EU (Czech Republic), and our servers are also hosted in EU (France) with GDPR compliant providers.
  • We only process and store information that is needed for functionality of our servers and to provide services that our players expect.
  • We do not require or ask our players to disclose their Discord handle in the game or their character name in Discord to other players.
  • We do not sell your data, and we do not use any analytics services or ads that would make use of tracking cookies.
  • Caring about privacy and safety is not just a buzz word for us, we are passionate about our above standard security practices.
  • Your chat logs are kept only for 14 days, in text files on the server machine. They are only accessed in the case of report investigation.

What data do we process?

Account information

To let our users authenticate with our website and game server, whitelist a character, and interact with our systems smoothly and safely, we collect necessary data to identify a player in Discord and the game. This assures that your account belongs to you and cannot be accessed by another user. This data includes user identifiers and technical information such as: Discord ID and username, Steam ID, and your IP address.

User generated content and information created by playing

As a roleplay community, it is expected that users build and share content together. Some information is also created by our system through player behavior. This includes but is not limited to characters you play, amount of hours played, participation on DM events, ranking of monster encounters, and chat logs. Additional data provided by the user may be stored, such as account settings (e.g. timezone), or user generated content (e.g. wiki article).

Ticket transcripts and disciplinary actions

To ensure a safe and welcoming environment, Avardon provides a support and ticketing system. We process any information that is provided to us in our ticketing system for the sole purpose of helping you with your support request. We also process information that helps us moderate our community, which may include notes of disciplinary actions, or data required for restricting access.

Donations and payment history

To provide you with a secure method to make a donation to Avardon, we make use of PayPal to process your payments. Billing information is only used for the purpose of making the transaction and is not saved on our end (but it is by PayPal). We only store the date, amount, user ID, and transaction ID for every payment.

Who can access your data?

Avardon follows the principle of least privilege. Access to personal data is restricted according to operational need.

Authorized server staff may access information necessary to perform support and moderation duties, including Steam IDs, Discord IDs, ticket information and relevant moderation records.

More sensitive data such as IP addresses or chat logs are subject to restricted access and may only be directly viewed by the server owner.

Relevant excerpts of chat logs may be provided to authorized staff where necessary to review a potential violation of server rules.

You have a right to access the personal data we hold about you or obtain a copy of it.

If you believe that the information we hold for you is incomplete or inaccurate, you may ask us to correct it.

We may make changes to this policy at any time. Continued use of our website, ticket system, or game servers signifies your acceptance of this policy. If you do not accept the policy then please do not use our services.
